You must be able to prove that you booked the appointment. Take a <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>screenshot<\/strong><\/span> of the appointment confirmation. Save an email confirmation as a PDF and print it out.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>If there are no free appointments available, keep checking regularly. You can ask at your workplace, accommodation or a copy shop if they have a fax machine. You can also send a fax online, for example at <a href=\"https:\/\/fax.pdf24.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fax.pdf24.org<\/span><\/a> (5 pages per month free) or <a href=\"http:\/\/simple-fax.de\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">simple-fax.de<\/span><\/a> (7 cents per page, account available from 5 \u20ac). Register on a website, upload the document and enter the number of the person\/office that you want to send the fax to. I hereby apply for its extension [or the following new permit&#8230;] and urgently request an appointment as well as confirmation of receipt of this message.) Include your name, address, date of birth, and the details of your current residence permit in the message.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You have to prove that you subbmitted the application on time. Take a\u00a0<span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>screenshot of the confirmation<\/strong><\/span><\/span> that the message was received. If you get a response, save it as a PDF and print it out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px;\">5. You often also need your employment contract and pay slips or certificates from Ausbildung (vocational training), university, or language courses, as well as a registration certificate (Meldebest\u00e4tigung) or your rental contract.<\/span> You can usually find this information on the website of your immigration office.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>If you do not speak German well, find someone who can translate and go with you to the appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px;\">7. Your <span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>residence permit remains valid<\/strong><\/span><\/span> until a decision is made on your application.<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote modern-footnotes-footnote--hover-on-desktop \" data-mfn=\"11\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448-11\">11<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448-11\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"11\">If the appointment takes place after your residence permit has expired, your stay is still legal. This rule is stated under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gesetze-im-internet.de\/aufenthg_2004\/__81.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">section 81(4) of the residence act (AufenthG)<\/a>. You can refer to this.<\/span><\/span> All <span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>permissions<\/strong><\/span><\/span> also remain valid, such as your work permit.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes, you will receive a <span lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>notification or a Fiktionsbescheinigung (fictional certificate)<\/strong><\/span><\/span> stating that your residence permit continues to be valid.<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote modern-footnotes-footnote--hover-on-desktop \" data-mfn=\"12\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448-12\">12<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-00000000000020f50000000000000000_2448-12\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"12\">If you do not have this notification, use the appointment confirmation or proof of submission of your application as evidence.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your company or the jobcenter asks about your residence permit, show them the documents and explain this regulation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px;\">8.
